Course Expectations & Policies

Attendance

All students are generally expected to attend all meetings of this course, and actively participate in all course meetings. If you miss a class meeting for any reason, you are responsible to make up for it. For example, you are responsible to reach out to your teammates/advisor and check-in with them.

Most of the meetings for this course relate to your group project; these meetings must be done synchronously. You should plan to attend the project/homework meetings even if you reside in distant time zone. The meetings will not be recorded.

Exceptions may be made at instructor's discretion on a case by case basis. For example, if all team members reside in a distant time zone, we can schedule an alternative meeting time for the team.

From WSE Deans correspondence:

Religious holidays are valid reasons to be excused from class. Students who must miss a class or an examination because of a religious holiday must inform the instructor as early in the semester as possible in order to be excused from class or to make up any work that is missed.

I extend the same courtesy to cultural/national holidays, or any other sort of engagement that you personally might have such as Athletics, Academics, etc.

Note that religious/cultural/national holidays (or other personal engagements which you have) are usually not ground for an extension over a homework/project deadline. You must plan accordingly to e.g. start early and avoid any conflict.

Late day

There is no late day nor grace period for homework/project deadlines.

If for any extenuating circumstances you (or your team) are unable to meet a deadline, please reach out to the instructor as soon as possible. You may be granted extension at instructor's discretion on a case by case basis.
